As the year draws to a close, our League Board has reflected on how best to celebrate this season of generosity and gratitude. In lieu of our annual holiday gathering, we have chosen to honor the League’s values of community and service by giving back to organizations making a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.
This year, the League of Women Voters is donating to a few local and state nonprofits meeting critical needs across our region. Our contributions will support:
- CERF SNAP (Community Emergency Relief Fund of SW Colorado) — expanding food access and supporting local food resources throughout Southwest Colorado.
- CIRC (Colorado Immigration Rights Coalition) — with donations earmarked for La Plata County, assisting immigrants and their families in building secure and equitable futures.
- La Plata Family Centers Coalition — offering direct support to families through utility assistance, on-site food pantry services, diapers, formula, children’s clothing, community gardens, and farm programs.
- Women’s Resource Center — providing vital resources and advocacy for women seeking stability and opportunity.
There is tremendous need in our community, and together we can make the holidays a bit brighter for many families across the region. Thank you for the compassion, advocacy, and civic spirit you bring to our League.
Wishing you warmth, peace, and hope as we move into the new year.
With gratitude,
The Board of the League of Women Voters of la Plata County
