2025 Annual Meeting

President Tara Kiene began the meeting introducing guest speaker Tami Graham, Executive Director KSUT Radio to speak on

 “KSUT and all of public media is under threat. Will you step up?”

The importance of public media in the political system. She highlights that public media is crucial for democracy, providing education, information, and entertainment, especially in rural communities. Graham emphasizes that access to public media correlates with increased political knowledge and civic engagement while reducing extremist views. She also discusses the history of the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967, which established a national system of nonprofit public service television and radio, and the creation of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
