SUMMARY:Understanding Human Trafficking in Southwest Colorado
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Laboratory to Combat Human Trafficking\, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters of La Plata County and the Fort Lewis College Sociology Club for a training on how human trafficking is impacting Colorado and our region.  We’ll cover the laws\, the local resources\, the root causes\, the intersectionality\, and the social and systemic inequalities that can lead to trafficking.  Tuesday\, April 9th at FLC’s Noble Hall #125.  Join us at 5:45 for refreshments.  The training will be from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.  Please see the flyer for registration information. \nYou will likely have to park in the Campus Court parking lot off of 8th Ave (the star on the map). That road can be accessed from either entrance of the campus (College Drive or 8th Ave).

DESCRIPTION:Meet Your Fellow Community Members Who Live Outside\n\n\n\nThe League of Women Voters of La Plata County is inviting you to a community-wide D.E.I event. \n\n\n\nFriday\, November 7th at the VFW 4031 (1550 Main Ave in Durango\, (970) 247-0384) In the Lower Hall\, which now has a wheelchair ramp! \n\n\n\nJoin us at 5:00 for a forum where several of our unhoused community members (Veterans\, disabled\,\nLGBTQ+\, etc.\,) will get a chance to tell their story and be heard. The panelists will then take audience questions\, facilitated by a moderator. Get a new perspective and put a face to your homeless neighbor\, friend\, or co-worker \n\n\n\nAt 6:30 we will wrap up the presentation and join each other for a harvest season grateful potluck dinner. Please stay to join us\, and bring a dish – main\, side\, dessert or beverages to share\, and/in a disposable container so the panelists can take the leftovers. \nWe hope you’ll take this opportunity to get to know your neighbors and share with folks who live outside in Durango.
