Happy New Year from the League of Women Voters of Colorado
As 2020 draws to a close, I think we can all agree that this has been a year like no other. Yet I have strong hope for 2021, drawn by inspirational people and events:
- In less than three weeks, the first female Vice President of the United States will be sworn into office. Keep your shoes on -- there's broken glass everywhere.
- Colorado's elections systems and officials continue to pass every challenge and display integrity, civility, and nonpartisanship, maintaining our state's ranking as the safest state in which to cast a vote. We have every reason to be proud, and we have a lot of current and former elected officials and workers to thank.
- We experienced record turnout for the primaries -- our first in 20 years! -- and the November election.
- Momentum is solid in the movements for both racial justice and climate change.
