National Program Planning

*4/10/2008: Based on Program Planning responses, the LWVUS Board recommends retaining all current LWVUS Positions in the areas of Representative Government, International Relations, Natural Resources and Social Policy. The LWVUS Board recommends a Health Care program to educate members and communities in order to be better prepared to do health care advocacy as needed. The Board also recommends the following proposed concurrence to amend the LWVUS Principles: "The LWVUS believes that all powers of the U.S. government should be exercised within the constitutional framework of a balance among the three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial."

*As is done every two years, the LWV of La Plata is participating in the national (LWVUS) program planning process for 2008.
Our local program planning meeting to discuss national (LWVUS) programs and priorities was held on Thursday, February 14 at the Durango Unitarian Fellowship Hall from 12:45 to 1:45pm.
*The results of our local program planning meeting were forwarded to LWV-US before Mar 1 and will be available here soon.

In preparation for this local program planning meeting, we ask all local LWV-LPC members to click and review the following materials:

1. Local Leaders Guide
2. Positions in Brief
3. LWVUS Impact on Issues 2006-2008
4. A group of LWV members around the country called Health Care Reform for the US is urging that local leagues recommend health care reform as a REVIEW item for the 2008-2010 planning period. See their site HC4US and their Planning Recommendation.

1/26/08- LWV-LPC Program Planning Chair, Jill Patton, sent the following email to all local LWV of La Plata County members:

If you can't come, please send me the completed form by February 11th.
You can email me at jgpatton@frontier.net, or snail mail it to me at:
